Or dress up in a rabbit suit and hop down the road at night. That'll confuse them when viewing the recordings.

Have a look here http://www.homecctvdirect.co.uk/home-cctv-uk-law.html it may or may not help. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to us off. Richard |

It's easy for us to be biased in your favour, but imagine if roles were reversed and you were posting on here that your neighbour was running a business from home and getting lots of visitors all day, then I guess we would be telling you to put up CCTV cameras, record their comings and goings etc.
Not saying your doing that though. |

I know, but I know that there are implications, laws and procedures to follow correctly to do so and also respect it too. If I was to have CCTV it would be for security purposes only not to observe others which is an in-proper use anyway unless it's illegal activity or private land. Private land but a business as this is has the laws and implications to be adhered too i.e. planning and respect that hence why I haven't had a system for the effort in doing so properly.
I guess though in some ways where residential and business is mixed into one it's a bit of a grey area but one must assume that the business laws regarding CCTV takes preference. We have signs for example displaying the fact we have an electric fence in use near publicly accessible areas. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

I have CCTV cameras installed at home and have no signs.
In the domestic environment it's fully legal not to have any signs up. You are not supposed to direct the camera onto other peoples land/property but there is no enforcement as it would be difficult. It's very different for a business' CCTV system though. Craig Rogers 2007 Puma 110 XS 2011 Evoque Coupe Dynamic Lux www.craigrogers.photography |

Yep, your exactly correct in your use and perfectly legal. Obviously you are using it for your own personal security use which is and should be the intended use. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Why not get your local police crime prevention officer to come around for a visit and provide you with some advice and perhaps a written report...

I have had contact from then and they said it IS ILLEGAL in my current situation and that if it goes up again let them know and they will take action on it. It's been removed though on our landlords word I'd imagine and doubt it will.
After all they had no permission to even mount it either. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R 🇬🇧🏴🏴🏴🇮🇪🇺🇸⛽️🛢️⚙️🧰💪 |

A well positioned laser beam knocks out a cctv camera quite effectively If everything is under control you are not going fast enough.

Well that should be taken as a warning then, that's how our yard got turned over all the cctv cameras were rendered useless. If everything is under control you are not going fast enough. It's not just lazers that can disable them quickly either. (I won't mention what or how though) $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Out of interest, under what piece of legislation or case law is it illegal? |
