Seen THESE recently and look good and a very reasonable price too. A little lacking in info though..
I assume they are for the filler plug only and not the drain plug? Or am I missing something?

Being alloy I would be a bit cautious of them being over tightened and rounding the heads off, all it takes is a ham fisted oaf in a garage and it's stuffed. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon.

Why not?
Why does there need to be a purpose for everything? I can see the point though about the alloy and over tightening but then equally Iwon't let my Landy go to anywhere that would possibly do that!

Might be time for an "utterly pointless" modification thread

Weightsaving means less fuel consumption which equals to saving nature! Something like that?

Some could argue what is the point of colour on a defender. Shouldn't they all be black....
Or more to the point white.. $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

I'm surprised at QT, who usually make some good stuff, but why make something that's of lesser quality than the original part? Darren

On the alloy side of thngs maybe but they are tapered as mentioned and the standard plug isn't. Am I correct in thinking if over tightened the standard plug could end up stuck inside?
(obviously you'd have to be a low IQ to do so anyway but still) $W33T $0U7H3RN $UG4R

Having had experience of a (non-LR) raised steel filler plug being punched into the diff on contact with a rock (extreme competitive offroading) and beggaring a ฃ1000 diff I would definitely not be going for a raised alloy plug... IMHO the LR design is perfectly suited to the application.

Yes and it's not that uncommon. As if its been undone and then slightly over tightened each time it forces the hole bigger. Then people use PTFE tape on it ext. Andy |
