It seems it never rains but it pours, although perhaps with all the other constraints on production, there it actually not a "better" time to face a potential strike?
JLR car production threatened as DHL warehouse workers and drivers hold strike ballot About 2,000 DHL logistics workers, who sort and deliver components at Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) sites across the UK, are being balloted for industrial action, including the option to strike. This, according to Unite the union, is after receiving no pay rise since 2018. Union members at Hams Hall in North Warwickshire, Solihull, Castle Bromwich, Halewood and Midpoint Tyrefort (West Midlands) are all being asked for their say. The union has warned that the impact of any industrial action at the sites at would be "serious and immediate". DHL has offered 1.75 per cent to cover the two-and-a-half years from 2020. But the union claims this is "grossly inadequate", given the soaring cost of living and the RPI inflation rate at 4.9 per cent." https://www.coventrytelegraph.net/news/cov...l-21916580 |
