England 2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 XS CSW Stornoway Grey
usb in dash board
guys - thinking about fitting one of these -

and I'm wondering what wiring needs to be done ie crimps, soldering etc

and how much dash board needs to come out.

I'm looking at doing this while I'm away on holiday and therefore need to know what tools etc I'm going to need Very Happy

If you replace the OE cigar lighter socket then it will plug in using the original crimps if you release them with a small screwdriver from their plastic housing.

The hole should be the right size or 0.5mm too small so a little rub with a round file should sort that.

I have been looking at the same but in the place for the headlight adjustment on my td5 dash would the plate at fit the whole square recess?

we have a picture of it in a Puma dash and a dimensioned drawing as below

I do not know if the plate would cover / fit that recess you have

Yes it does, but it requires you to destroy the hole where the headlight switch went. I'll post a pic of mine.

this is exactly the method I used and it took 20 minutes start to finish and provides almost an OEM look. Who actually uses the cigar lighter these days anyway. Other than to plug a power adaptor in to? Might as well replace this first !

You can always return it to original at a later date if required with no cutting of holes in the dashboard..
