Yes done two front ones. Both good quality units.

This a worrying thread.
If you 'pull away enthusiastically' won't the traction control protect the drive shafts/diffs? I beginning to think ABS won't........ BM52 |

No nasty abs witch craft for me
From what I understood, it was due to one front wheel spinning when pulling away with some lock on. I changed it for a four pin diff, and all been good since. Just normal case of standard diff's not being great design/build. Andy |

Given that the 2-pinion diff is considered by LR to be not strong enough for the 110 and 130 I have never understood why it's considered ok in the 90.
Having seen the way my 110 diff broke up I am surprised we don't hear of more failures. Worth bearing in mind that an Ashcroft ATB is cheaper than a standard diff from LR, and is properly built by people who care (unlike a LR diff). |

I had one go (20k miles 08 plate 90) No load no nothing. Reversed out of the drive put it in 1st and bang. Didnt even drop the clutch as i was in no real hurry.
Fitted ashcroft ATB.... MUUCCCHHH better, less diff slop Considering buying one for the back too just before it lets go. I ended up about £400 for Ashcroft ATB install including new bearings etc as you dont want all those wee bits in about the bearings. William |
