Just had a count up, the Ladybird 90 has been on a recovery truck 6 times in the last 2 months.
Friday I was having one of those proper days, loads of work to do traffic was bad holding me up some thieving scumbags stole my night out bag from the front of my 90 whilst I was parked up at a site in Theydon Bois Arrrrr !! When on the M4 going home engine light came on throttle went dead !! Hard shoulder hazards on turned off 30sec start up turn off reset start up yeaaa off we go throttle goes dead again, Repeat above another 2 times and start to think this is a bit more serious than usual. Got my bluetooth OBDII out and did a fault code check maf sensor out of range. OK so pulled it out cleaned it with WD40 and solvent cleaner put it back tried again and 10 guesses no better. Pulled off motorway at jcn 11 Reading as I could not even do 20mph. Phoned the Land Rover Assistance and they sent the AA out. he plugged his snap on reader in same fault but he could see the readings from the sensor all seamed ok. He disconnected it and said see what happens drove down the A33 to Swallowfield Services no better still doing 20mph topps. Called out the recovery truck and a very nice driver called Ian from the Reading depot took me home. Got home like Cinderella just before midnight. Next morning a bit of a hairy drive up the A380 to Exeter with the hazard lights on 10 mph on the hills. Matfords got it in to the workshop changed the maf no difference, did a smoke test and found a split hose round the back of the engine that had rubbed on something a split. changed that apparently an arse and they went for a test and blew a radiator hose off. Changed that and back home so far so good. I have got to say that all these things should never happen in the first place but the service from Matfords is very good (they nicked the parts yesterday off one of their courtesy 110's) and Land Rover Assistance is good a bit slow always your day up when it goes wrong but they do keep you going and get you home. If everything is under control you are not going fast enough.
