So grenediar I called you guy, he told me it's pretty likely that it's impossible to have back seats in soft top Land Rover in Spain, but he's taken all my docs and gone away to investigate....this is turning into a disaster

So I'm running out of options. It seems to me what's left is:
- return the car to the UK, get it insures and plated here and drive it or ship to Spain and back every year, it's a UK car and I can keep it there up to 6 months a year. This would be expensive.. - I remove the rear seats for the itv, but then putting them back is illegal and uninsured - I pay a huge amount of money to get the seats and anchor points homolgated, need to do a crash test! With and identical roll bar and seats and body - I get the thing approved here and then move the Spain for 6 months as a resident as you import as a new resident with no test required - I give up and sell the car Anybody got any ideas! |

Can you buy a NAS Defender from the US and import it? It would have the same cage as the 1992 (?) Defender SV and the US models are set up for rear forward facing seat belts because there were optional folding rear bench seats. You'd be stuck with a v8 unless you wanted to do a conversion, and the prices aren't exactly "good" but the US soft tops are legitimately specced the way you want.

May be a way forward. Land rover Spain say they cannot homolage because the original homolagated seats for that car are sideways.....may see if the will remove the front facing seats and pt back in the original....stupid regs may give me a less safe solution..
