We make  all on the Skytags, I started looking into them as I wanted them for each of my toys (Five  ) and was so impressed with the service that I ended up retailing them.
I personally wasn't keen on dealing with the scroats myself if a vehicle was pinched and know from experience that the Police won't take instructions from 'an individual' who was tracking a stolen vehicle so the appeal was letting Skytag do all the work (for a price of course) |

I'm surprised the police didn't 'stake' the vehicle out if they thought they could catch the ......

Whereas the above may be the case, you can only really get things going with the tracker company and Police once you are actually aware that the vehicle has gone. If that's a few hours later (like when you return to a car park after shopping, or wake up in the morning looking at an empty drive) then it may be too late! If you can't afford the expensive top end subs trackers that alert the tracking company upon unauthorised movement, then the cheap text based ones are great to 'multi-layer' with the likes of Skytag. So your cheap tracker tells you its gone, you can track it via google maps, etc, whilst you are also then getting on to the Police for a crime number and to Skytag to do the rest.... I would never try and chase the vehicle myself though - way too dangerous for several reasons.... Layers, the way forward. Our blog - http://landytravels.com/

Matt has a very valid point... In this day and age it's almost a necessity to do so... I had to have a laugh about maybe getting the police to stake the vehicle out... Can you imagine the paperwork involved in that... written requests, overtime... expenses (for coffee)... That's even before they caught anybody... It's just not profitable... Much easier to sit on a overhead bridge on a step decline and try and catch people doing 80 on the motorway...

I totally agree with Pam, multi layer is the way to go, from ball bearings in the screw heads of doors, X-Eng column shroud, relocate diagnostic plug, bike lock on bonnet through to additional alarm systems and various trackers
Even the cheapest of Chinese trackers are a doddle to fit and for very little outlay you can have a fully functioning system, I really don't know why people put these things off ! |

Thought about that one myself but believe it must be positioned within a certain distance from the steering wheel to comply with regulations. Any info or link to these regs would be welcome. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!
