Better breathing
Afternoon Peeps

I've been sat here feeling sorry for myself because I've hurt my back Big Cry Still every cloud has a silver lining so I've been swatting up on the TD5 section and read what I could on tuning Twisted Evil Twisted Evil my question for the technically minded is, I have a MOD style snorkel but have read that these restrict airflow dramatically so if I attached 80mm flexi pipe from the base of the snorkel and got rid of the restriction that is attached to the inner part of the wing and connected it directly to the air box would that eliminate the vehicle gasping for air Question in my basic little mind I think that it'll work but I'm sure that someone here has already done it, I would also be taking in air away from the engine so should be cooler as well.

Thanks for your help and I look forward to hearing your views on it Thumbs Up Life is one big adventure, that's why we have the vehicle for the journey.

As they say... every little helps!

On my 110, unless I know i'm going wading/off roading, I just undo the flexi pipe off the bottom of the snorkel (under the wing) and wedge it to suck in straight through the grill, thus eliminating the snorkel upright pipe altogether.

Makes a bit of difference.

If you have not already done so, get rid of the water separator/cyclone up by the air box - it makes a lot of difference Thumbs Up

Not the easiest of tasks and probably best to wait until your back has healed.

That's the next job Bob, I think that I'll do that when I try the pipe mod. Who remapped your TD5 and which stage Question Life is one big adventure, that's why we have the vehicle for the journey.

I did the same... seemed to make the same difference as removing the snorkel, so it shows that it lets the engine breathe better.

Not had mine mapped - yet Thumbs Up

When it gets done I will get West Somerset LR to put an Alive stage one on.

It is in next week for a new clutch and DMF - DMF is on its way out and I think it is best to be done before it expires off road Shocked

It is supposed to remove moisture/water from the input air stream. If you have a snorkel fitted it is not really doing anything.

I've was lead to believe the cyclone thingy is to help provide air flow across the filter and hence spreading the muck across it (ie to try and avoid a build up of muck in air area)?

If so, for the sake of a bit more BHP i'd happily change the filter more often. It's not like they're expensive.

Could always just rotate the filter mid way between services if it bothered you that much, to spread the "wear" around.
