Indeed Jamie, very nice bloke, he seemed a little pricy to me, but i don't have much experience of Tig Welders, how much do you think that mend is?

Jamie, am i going to need to do something to my bonnet catch to fit this intercooler then, especially with the extra 4mm on the strengtheningning plate?

If you bend the catch out a little bit, you can usually get the end of it to just miss the edge of the intercooler.
They're really easy to bend, so just as easy to pull out, it's also easy to knock back in again (even just slamming the bonnet will do it) so keep an eye on it everytime you shut the bonnet. I cut the end of the "catch" off on mine, just enough to leave the "hook" in place to lock the bonnet. you could just remove the catch all together, BUT this will leave you with no safety measure if the main bonnet catch comes undone at speed.... it'll fly up into the windscreen, Although you could then fit some military type bonnet catches, or deemon-tweekes buy racer type catches to hold the bonnet down. |

So does everyone have to do this if they buy an allisport intercooler? I'm a bit confuzzled, why don't they just make ones that 'fit' ?

I had some allisport fitting instructions somewhere where they suggested removing the locking thing.
I suppose the will make one that the locking clamp thing will go into, but it would mean having a smaller intercooler (not as tall), or having expensive work to make a "U" shaped bit in the middle (which probably wouldn't be possible, as you'd have to block off several rows of tubing on the matrix, so it would just end up being smaller again) I'd imagine most people would prefer better cooling/more power than having a secondary bonnet lock. |

Jamie, Surely you can just weld the mounting brackets 5 mm higher so the intercooler fits lower? Allisport must know they don't fit ?
