It would be likely that your steering lock stops need winding out, did you have smaller tyres previously ? 2005 Td5 90 XS

Thanks for the feedback - yes, I had 205 80 16's on it.
The place that put them on should have known this |

Thinking about it, it only seems to rub one way, so that would presumably confirm your thinking

Exactly the same thing happened to me going to and from the same sizes.
Less than a minute to fix. Very simple, small adjustment. Bit specialist a thing for a tyre place to pick up I would have thought. 2003 Td5 110 Hardtop Now a 2013 110 USW too. |

Were the same alloy wheels on the car before you fitted this set of tyres ? If they are a new to the car set of wheels they could have a slightly different offset to what you used to have fitted ?

Yep, same alloys, just new tyres.
First port of call tomorrow is where they were fitted to point out the problem, and hopefully wait for the 2 minute fix |

Ahh. Then as already mentioned it just does sound like the steering stops need a tweak for the larger tyres. They were most probabally set up on the smaller tyres for maximum lock hence your problem now.

So your steering lock will be worse once adjusted , wheel spacers will now be next on your list to buy

Mine stopped rubbing after a tiny adjustment. No effect on turning - hopefully yours too!
I'm always astonished at the price of spacers, given what they are... 2003 Td5 110 Hardtop Now a 2013 110 USW too. |

If they do adjust your lock stops get them to wind them all the way out and copaslip them before refitting.they can be fff ing tight if they have never been moved

To be honest, I find it very peculiar you had 205/80/16's to begin with since this size is much too small for a Defender (would be quite interesting to see a photo!)
Blaming them for tyre rub when what they have fitted are standard size tyres on standard size rims is a bit hasty. |
