Green Lane Day 20th Dec - Now full.
Colin Bell of UKLandroverEvents is running a one-off private event around the North York Moors on 20th December.

Due to two cars being unable to attend we are looking for someone to fill their space - is anyone interested? Please PM me.

The cost of the day is £49 and for those who don't know, Colin's drives are probably the best in the North and are very well run.

The North York Moors is one of his best drives and has a bit of something for everyone; river crossings, rocky climbs and desents and some muddy sections.

Please note that they only cars Colin will take are Land Rovers but only Defenders, Discoverys, Range Rovers and Range Rover Sports - no Freelanders.

A standard car is all that is required but some under-body protection might be handy. We are doing the event in a basic Discovery 2 and all that it has is all-terrain tyres.

Time is short so please PM me as soon as possible.

Colin's Drives in North Yorks Moors can't be any better or worse than any of the numerous other tour companies now using the NYMNP lanes, there are only a few lanes after all, most use the same circuit over and over again. That week alone there are at least two tours going on, probably more if I checked. How many of these tour companies take part in the upkeep of the lanes donating some of the profits they make to help keep our lanes open? I presume all of them or hope they do. All I hear recently is complaints, especially from the people of Glaisdale / Lealholm who live down a quiet lane that leads to Rakes common. Surely we should stay away from such lanes and use the more remote ones that aren't lined with houses. Thumbs Up Original Member Pie n Pea Club.

I am somewhat surprised at your reply Shocked

The drives Colin puts on are very well run and limit the number of vehicles each time. so as to not over run the lanes Exclamation Exclamation He and his team also help repair the lanes given permission from the local council Exclamation

It is difficult enough trying to find green lanes so I find the best option is to pay and to follow an orginised trip as opposed to driving around aimlessly, thereby avoiding any nuisance problems.

Also, as I live in the local area as you do are you saying I should have to traval further afield to do a drive Question

Finally, as you dont know where we are going why are you talking about specific places Exclamation Exclamation

If you aint interested in the drive and are only after complaining then please leave this thread alone. Gas, Grass Or Ass - Nobody Rides For Free

Exclamation

Never said he didn't, just stated he was no better or worse than any of the numerous firms in this line of work. As for repairs I've been using these lanes for nigh on 30 years and have never seen anyone other than the NYMNP or local estate repairing the lanes.

It's easy to find green lanes join the green lane association and use trailwise, don't forget to check with the local council that the lanes are still open.

But look on the brightside, as a founder member of the pie n pea club, I give my word that if anyone wants or needs a guided tour off the NYM's greenlanes I will charge no more than a pint. I will also include a range of useless local wild life and hysterical sorry historical facts, Thumbs Up

So you save a grand total of £46.

Here we go, off on a tangent when all I posted was 2 places on an orginised drive out Exclamation Exclamation

Are you out on the lanes all day and night checking who repairs them? If not then how do you know who repairs and who doesn't Question Just because you aint seen anyone does not mean they dont do it Exclamation

If you have been using them for over 30 years should it not be you that gives them a rest Question

Any daft sod can find green lanes, that was not what I ment and you know it - all I was saying finding ones that are ok to use is difficult and as Colin puts the time and effort to run these events with the full co-operation of the local authorities checking times when they should/should not be used why waste my time Question

You dont even know where we are starting so how can you say where we will be going Question

I aint out of my box and can't be bothered to get out of it over this so please leave this thread alone - its not for a rant about over use or anything else - only to fill 2 places on an orginised drive Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes Gas, Grass Or Ass - Nobody Rides For Free

Stop it SonicD and leave that poor angry littleman alone, I was only offering to help out those less priviledged who after buying their very expensive Land Rovers where a little short on cash. Being Green lane Team Leader is my dream just look at the admiration, adoration and fiscal security I would attract, just think I'd be able too, like Colin, (who is very nice BTW) make Jasperoony man moist. Ok you have had your fun - now please do as I have asked nicely and leave this thread alone to those that are wanting to take part - just cause you clearly can't afford the drive does not give you the right to try and mock those that can Wink Gas, Grass Or Ass - Nobody Rides For Free

My PM to you was not threatening at all - merly asking you to leave this thread alone, but just to be clear here it is and I quote;

"Ok, you have said enough now on the public forum to get me out of my box - suggest you like w Censored s keep your opinions to yourself.

If I was to get wet it would only be as a result of Censored myself laughing at you.

Leave the thread alone."

As you can see I even made a mistake in it as it should have read "w Censored s like you" but hey ho I was never very good at typing.

If you do fancy coming to the start of the drive I will let you know where it is and please feel free to bring Ent Thumbs Up Gas, Grass Or Ass - Nobody Rides For Free
