Defendery places to go for holiday
Ok so Portugal is a "no", as have brought a dog, and Scotland is a "no", as they have killer mozzies.

So where else, just the dog, wife, and me in the 90, Sankey on the back with RTT on. Just touring about, see, and doing things.............

Any ideas Question Question Question Question Question

Lake District.

Stay in Keswick and loads of good lanes to do.

You will also be part of a Defender county! It's full of them mostly with a collie hanging out. 1951 80" S1 2.0

...or if you want to leave the UK - Ireland ! Particularly Wicklow, Kerry, Mayo or Donegal. I wouldn't bother with Roscommon Laughing

Thanks for your input so far, we move on everyday, so need an area/direction that will have enough to amuse for a week plus, hence becoming interested in Scotland after reading the other thread.

Can you take dogs to Ireland without pet passport? Anybody know?

Andy

North York Moors. Lots of walks, natural landscapey things, touristy things, many dog friendly, some green lanes, lots of nice camp sites, coastal stuff too. Basically has it all and is very beautiful - rugged moors and lush green valleys and awesome views.]

Oh and its not as bad for mozzies as the Scotland or the western (damper) areas of Yorkshire. Our blog - http://landytravels.com/

Keswick? Lanes? what is this....

lived between there and newcastle my whole life and know of 2 that are any good... (maybe my 20 years isnt enough)

but i do cycle for one of the shops in the area racing, and ive been up down and arround pretty much every mountain, down every road and still dont know of these illusive lanes... care to shed light? there is potential, but its all behind locked gates...

You don't need a pet passport for Ireland from the UK

Does your dog have a passport? Although I haven't got a dog I've been through the tunnel enough times to know it's a common thing to take the dog. France has the Alps and the Pyrenees, I've explored the Alps from Le Clusaz to Mont Blanc and found plenty of Defender type roads that take you to hidden lakes or overnight chalets or just to somewhere scenic where you can sit and think. France has a lot to offer, head for lake Annecy and explore from there (Alpe D'Huez, Val d'Isère, Chamonix). Just be aware heading down there on the toll road can be costly, better to break the journey and stop en-route and stay on minor roads.

Our pup is well traveled, the pet passport is not too tricky, we used it lots when we lived in Switzerland.

Having said that, would you consider Sunny Wiltshire, a few days on the plains, Stonehenge, New Forest, then Dorset's Jurassic coastline, heading down thru Devon to Cornwall ... there's lots to see in the UK and our economy needs some help !

I know a couple of good camp sites in and around the Salisbury plains, there's some good ones near Bridport too.
