TD5 1998 Nearside Air vent
Hi All

I have an air vent, i guess for the cab heater on the top of the nearside wing, i don't see it on all TD5's, if i didnt want it, is there some sort of conversion kit to make it use the side vent ?

It must be present on all TD5's otherwise they wouldn't have a heater. It may be on the other side on LHD vehicles though.

The side vent is the air intake for the engine, which is pretty important! That's on the off-side (drivers side) though. Do you mean the wing-top vent that's on the same side as that? If so, then that should just be a blank grill, i.e. without any holes in it, as it isn't connected to anything on RHD vehicles. Darren

your guess is right cab heater in let on the top of the nearside wing, and blank on the off side parts in side engine bay can be moved from one side to the other for LHR

Hmmm ok so i guess it must be normal on TD5's, i just don't recall seeing it on all vehicles, i am surprised they didn't 'match' the sides and just put another side vent in for the cab air and keep the wings streamline......

On LHD vehicles, the heater intake changes sides but the engine intake doesn't, so that wouldn't work. Plus, I don't think Land Rover worry too much about streamlining Defenders Laughing Darren

It's the normal position for the heater intake for all 90's and 110's since they came out in the 80's, regardless of which engine is fitted.
