I had a Disco II that came with 20 inch wheels and the ride was awful. Changed them for standard 18's and it was hugely improved. Darren

Had 19 inch with Pirellis on my former D3, very good compromise between look and comfort. But for the Defender the 19 and 20 inch rims seem to be a little bit too bling. JE Engineering sell very nice ones in 18 inches, they have a perfect look on the Defender, don't need wheel adapters as you need for the 19 and 20 inch LR wheels and you can choose from a vast variety of more modern tires at that size than there are in 16 inches:
