Not sure if this has been discussed but I was reading LROI and came across this!
If you hear a banging noise when at full articulation in extreme off road conditions then it is the front propshaft hitting the sump on the engine! Their is a modified sump out which your dealer will fit if you complain of this. EDIT-This only seems to affects Left Hand Drive vehicles! Ben Rebuilt 1996 black/white Defender 90 300 TDi |

i believe its LHD and RHD vehicles, as Tim says how can it be any different, sump and props are in the same place. i think its more a case that the terrain they are used in o/s is different to the uk ie rockier therefore there were only LHD failures. Italy had the first failure i believe. Cheers
