TD5 Cooling Hose Question
Quick Question......Why are there only 3 hoses in a replacement hose kit for a TD5? If I open the bonnet I see more than 3 hoses ?

They are the air hoses, not coolant!  1988 90 Td5 NAS soft top

Isn't a coolant hose more important than an air hose though ? Why just replace the air ? 2008 TDCi 2.4 XS CSW

They do completely different jobs. Manufacturers typically use a similar material for both as it's cheap and generally does the job. There are benefits to upgrading to materials that are more specifically suited though, albeit at a cost. Darren

The 3 that you are talking about are almost certainly for the intercooler, they help to stop expansion when under high boost pressure from the turbo, I did mine a few weeks ago, not sure if it helps much, mine's only a mild stage 1 with larger intercooler etc, but yes, they are shiney blue ones!!
I don't suppose that the coolant hoses are under so much pressure when boost is required.
It's a bit like adding braided hoses to the brakes, it just stops expansion, allowing the pressure to go directly where it's meant to go and not outwards (if that makes sense)
