If you fitted the NAS type roll cage, it still has the rear cage inside the hood, to hold up the soft top. So you couldn't fit the rack with the soft top on. You could fit a windscreen protection bar and get your current soft top modified to fit it like a NAS cage.

One company (sorry, can't remember the name) do a small truck-cab sized rack that fits to the steel door surrounds. Handy if you wanted to get a few items up out of the way but no good for long items.
On the few occasions I have wanted to carry anything long (ladder for instance) I have removed the tilt and strapped it to the internal hoop structure (MOD bars front & rear). ONE LIFE, GET IT! |

Perhaps I need to look into the windscreen protection bar option and simply mount a roof light bar with 4 safari 5000 lights to it.

Hi there only just saw this post
Its something I was possibly thinking about doing. I dont know if your on Fface book but East coast Rovers in the USA seem to do this as a popular mod to there NAS spec ones using 2 rear ladders to support and the front cage. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=69...mp;theater Worth a look if just for ideas. I know aswell 'Purely Metal' in suffolk who fabricated my larger diameter frame are going to be making one soon for his series. Also you can buy light bars for soft tops off the shelf there used to be a company selling them on ebay. Very nice Defender by the way, green soft tops do look good Defender puma dormobile camper |

Sailing Tom - Thanks for the link. ECR in Maine are probably one of the best in the US. I will get mine restored once we are back home in the US. I was in touch with them to get some details and they are usually booked out 4 months solid. I am going to look up the vendor here in the UK you have provided. I tried some of my contacts in the US and got two links which might be of interest to you:

Do you want the roofrack to be just over the doors or Full Length?
Although I haven't done it on a Landrover 90, I did do it many years ago on a CJ7 Jeep, but I do think the windscreen frame is a lot weaker on the Landrover so may not take the loadings. If your interested let me know and I will dig out some photos to show you the sort of set-up. Granted I wasn't carrying a lot of weight just four windsurfer boards & masts. |

Actually the D90 ST in the states had a rollcage installed at the factory but it was made by Safety Devices. The roof rack was an option as far as I know and was also made by Safety Devices using twin rear ladders as supports. I ran mine in SoCal almost year round with just a surrey top and the roof rack.
For some reason I can't upload a photo from my iPad, google NAS D90 ST and I'm sure you'll find plenty of pics. |
