TD5 90 diff
Hi, can I fit a rear diff from a 300tdi disco onto my 2003 TD5 90 ?
Or should I be concerned about gear ratios ?

Thanks Mark

Hi Mark
You should be able to use a Disco 300Tdi diff in your Defender, they are certainly the same ratio '3.54/1 they should also have the same number of splines for the shafts.IIRC you can swap the entire rear axle from one to the other. 2005 Td5 90 XS

As long as is 24 spline should be ok, but you may have to swap the input drive flange, some disco's were three bolt, and Defender's are four.

You got probs with yours?

My seals leaking like s**t I've checked the breather & it's ok, it's just that I've got another diff ready to go, mine seems to whine when I lift off so hoping to eliminate that ?

Depending on the exact age of the diff you are fitting and the diff you are removing you might need to replace some of the studs in the axle casing. Older diffs have a thin section where 4 of the studs go through, later diffs are the same thickness all the way round. It's really easy to change the studs but it's not something you want to find out when you put the diff in on a Sunday afternoon and need the motor on Monday morning. http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/
