Why bar NFU? They consistently come out as one of the most accomodating insurers, albeit not necessarily the cheapest. Darren

Mine's with Adrian Flux with no issues at all, and has a Patriot rack and a number of other declared mods.

Hi Darren I didn't mean to imply that I'd "barred" them, the local office has had new computer issues and has been unable to quote so far. Having just got off the 'phone to them literally this minute I'm disappointed that yet again their systems are so poor. The exact model isn't listed, their's confusion over engine size for this model etc. etc. A provisional quote is £600 FC with the caveat of underwriter referral! Chris |

Hi BW No problem with AF as I've used them for years and they're fine about the extras, I just think £700 is a bit steep compared to my current DCPU which is £350 a year. Admittedly is 7 years old but would that really double the cost?! Chris |

UPDATE: Having spent a wearying 35 minutes on the 'phone to NFU I took Steve's advice and called L&V.
It took less than 10 minutes and they quoted £317 Now I'm suspicious that it won't cover everything despite my frequent declarations of mods, replacement value and constantly saying "are you sure?" Look like they'll be getting the business in a few weeks. Thanks Steve E Chris |

Did that say why it's so much more? Seems odd, and I can certainly understand your reluctance. Perhaps it's to cover all the replacement bonnets a Puma will need! |

I have just insured with Privilege , business insurance for me and 1 named driver , fully comp on a 110 LE Station wagon with roof rack and Rai.
NFU who I have been with for 8 years wanted £600 , Privilege £200 , I thought it must be too good to be true but have been through the ts and cs and can't fault the cover. The underwriters are UKI so should be safe there. I am pretty sure that some insurers are happy to go low and acquire new business , of course the real test is will they pay out . Hopefully I won't find out... |

Has anybody claimed on their insurance ..?
Would be good to get a feel for how fair you think they have been. Especially with declared mods etc. Cheers Simon |

We have no problems with N.F.U. the problem was with Land Rover who it seems do not declare all the models of Land Rover Defender that are available and it raises a Red flag. Our's is a 100 2.4 dual purpose utility and it wasn't shown on the insurance data base, we took the paperwork to the local office they were more than happy to insure it for a very reasonable price. Don't make old people mad.
We don't like being old in the first place, so it doesn't take much to us off. Richard |

Yes to LV - unfortunately I've has a fair amount of experience with claims and they've been excellent. When i had a total loss they sent a cheque within a week, and were prepared to negotiate. Very good to deal with.
