Fitted my new roof bars today they are Ulti Bars from "The roof rack shop" online.

These seemed ideal for what i wanted and what i wanted to spend. The cross bars are extruded aluminium and the brackets are galvanised steel and powder coated black so should hopefully give many years of service.

Cross section of cross bars.

The cross bars were too long for my liking and were wider than a Defender so decided to shorten them a tad by cutting the excess off with a cutting disc in my angle grinder.

The cross bars have a sliding fitting in the top channel for fixing load stops or pipe carrier tubes etc.

Each bar has a carrying capacity of 55Kg have not tested this yet but will do tommorow as i have a large amount of fencing to collect (and erect)

The load stops were included in the kit as purchased.

And I've got good news for you.........................
Until today the highway sticker costs CHF 40,- As of next year most likely that will increase to CHF 100,- Whistle

Seriously, look at it in this way, if you drive on the péage in France (you most likely via Luxemburg from after Nancy down to the Côte d'Azur, how many € do you pay than just one way? Yes, much more than what you pay here now for an entire year access to a perfect country wide highway network. Thumbs Up Thumbs Up

We could maybe take this Holland-Switzerland game further.... Let's talk about parking tariffs in the center of Amsterdam and in the center of Geneva. Amsterdam, one day parking in the old town or in the "grachtengordel" will cost you more than a full year highway ticket in Switzerland. And you also have to pay there on sundays Shocked
Geneva is a fraction of that, and........... sundays free Thumbs Up

100!!!! Shocked

City Centre of Amsterdam only charge you €2,00 per 20 minutes with a maximum of €68,00... Mr. Green

Been busy lately,

Trying to buy a house (still looking).

Trying to buy a Discovery Td5 for the Missus (still looking).

Doing upgrades on the Ute:

Front:
Fully re-built the axle with Ashcroft ATB, Black Diamond disks and EBC pads, Gwyn Lewis comp suspension and sumo bars, KAM flanges and Qt radius arms- (Completed).

Rear:
Fully re-built axle with Ashcroft ATB, Black diamond disks and EBC pads, Gwyn Lewis comp suspension minus springs, KAM flanges- (Completed).

All connected through Gwyn Lewis braided brake lines and waxoyling as I go along- also using high quality greases and sealants as I have gone along.

Still left to do:

Airbag suspension (one side fitted) and Qt trailing arms (in the post hopefully).

Mud flap brackets defender 90 stainless steel
Hello,

yesterday the mud flap brackets for the 90' arrived. They are made of stainless steel 1.4301. The fitting point is a "key hole" which allows the easy mounting/ demounting. The sheets are designed to press the mudflaps to the brackets. After sand blasting I will coat them in black. The screws are stainless, too.

Greetings - Markus

Yes, Swiss is great. Every year I need to stick a bloody motorway tax sticker on the windscreen and pay for a full year of use, while I'm only there for a couple of weeks at the most. Rolling Eyes

Yeah I don’t think its extravagant at all (even if they put it up to 100chf but looks like that will not happen now), just been to Corsica took the boat from Livorno and it cost us 48 Euro's each way so frankly 40chf for the year Bow down,

Go to Chamonix quite a bit (only one hour from home) and that’s 5, 70 euro's one-way on the French roads not to mention the huge traffic jams the tollbooths cause.

I was in CH recently, I mainly used the roads Whistle - I would not pay 100CHFs to use the Swiss motorways for a couple of weeks a year and if everyone thought the same, it would be gridlock on the roads ... Rolling with laughter

At least when you drive the French Motorways you can go at a reasonable pace, the thing that p155ed me off with the Swiss motorways is they continually change the limit from 90,100,110 aaarrrrgghhh .. not so much a problem in a defender though
