Fitted my new roof bars today they are Ulti Bars from "The roof rack shop" online.
These seemed ideal for what i wanted and what i wanted to spend. The cross bars are extruded aluminium and the brackets are galvanised steel and powder coated black so should hopefully give many years of service. Click image to enlarge Cross section of cross bars. Click image to enlarge The cross bars were too long for my liking and were wider than a Defender so decided to shorten them a tad by cutting the excess off with a cutting disc in my angle grinder. Click image to enlarge The cross bars have a sliding fitting in the top channel for fixing load stops or pipe carrier tubes etc. Click image to enlarge Each bar has a carrying capacity of 55Kg have not tested this yet but will do tommorow as i have a large amount of fencing to collect (and erect) The load stops were included in the kit as purchased. Been busy lately,
Trying to buy a house (still looking). Trying to buy a Discovery Td5 for the Missus (still looking). Doing upgrades on the Ute: Front: Fully re-built the axle with Ashcroft ATB, Black Diamond disks and EBC pads, Gwyn Lewis comp suspension and sumo bars, KAM flanges and Qt radius arms- (Completed). Rear: Fully re-built axle with Ashcroft ATB, Black diamond disks and EBC pads, Gwyn Lewis comp suspension minus springs, KAM flanges- (Completed). All connected through Gwyn Lewis braided brake lines and waxoyling as I go along- also using high quality greases and sealants as I have gone along. Still left to do: Airbag suspension (one side fitted) and Qt trailing arms (in the post hopefully). Click image to enlarge Sorry about the pic quality- only had my phone to hand. Glyn |

Hello,
yesterday the mud flap brackets for the 90' arrived. They are made of stainless steel 1.4301. The fitting point is a "key hole" which allows the easy mounting/ demounting. The sheets are designed to press the mudflaps to the brackets. After sand blasting I will coat them in black. The screws are stainless, too. Greetings - Markus |

Yeah I don’t think its extravagant at all (even if they put it up to 100chf but looks like that will not happen now), just been to Corsica took the boat from Livorno and it cost us 48 Euro's each way so frankly 40chf for the year , Go to Chamonix quite a bit (only one hour from home) and that’s 5, 70 euro's one-way on the French roads not to mention the huge traffic jams the tollbooths cause. I was in CH recently, I mainly used the roads - I would not pay 100CHFs to use the Swiss motorways for a couple of weeks a year and if everyone thought the same, it would be gridlock on the roads ...
At least when you drive the French Motorways you can go at a reasonable pace, the thing that p155ed me off with the Swiss motorways is they continually change the limit from 90,100,110 aaarrrrgghhh .. not so much a problem in a defender though Last edited by bpman on 21st Sep 2013 7:06am.
