^^^^^Was a good one this year, didn't get to see much though!
Had a quick look around indoors, took the 90 loaded with S1 parts, and the 86" on the trailer. Sold the lot! (Except the 86"!) Also got to meet a few D2 members and have a chat Great start to this years Land Rovering... Went along to Malvern ,good trip out.
Saw Ian Series ones truck and can only describe it as a work of art. Fantastic Nick. |

I also took a trundle along to Malvern, I think that the amount of visitors took the organisers a little by surprise judging by the way the carpark had filled up. Being fairly local this ends up as a very social gathering not so much a spending spree.
All that I ended up buying was a new set of wiper blades, put them on in the car park and found that one must have had something resting on it as there's a wonderful "miss" right in the eyeline. I also bought a couple of hub nuts and four tab washers for the next time I change any of my wheel bearings but mainly to replace the one single nut wheel bearing set up on my 110. Not the warmest venue to be at this time of year but it wasn't as bitterly cold as it has been other years |

Thanks Nick, good to meet you. I will be planning a trip up to the Cotswolds soon, there will probably be a few coming up, and coming down. It will be around Bourton on water. Had my man wash it.
I can rely on him as after suitable tuition from top experts in the field he takes care to only use filtered ph neutral Himalayan mountain water and Harrods own brand Defender shampoo on the vehicle top and bottom. He then leathers it off with a leather from a chamois that was specially selected and hunted for me before being processed at A K Smithers [a world leading tannery] who produce the finest hides with Defender coachwork very much in mind. Leathering off is promptly followed by a oh so gentle warm air final dry using a blower purpose built for the job for me by a retired Rolls Royce engineer [came with special atachments to dry off the inside of the chassis & various body box sections too]. No need to feed the sumptious Connolly leather interior this time or fit a new set velvet interior door handle covers but as the weather has been so appalling lately I did insist he clean all the tyre treads with soft cotton buds [so as not to blemish the rubber]. My man always uses an old brass Masters & Co medical syringe to apply three drops of Dingle Bros very best whale oil lubricant into each door hinge - ensuring each door is slowly opened and shut twelve times to ensure even ditribution. He will then polish and buff the entire exhaust system using our own stock of original formula Brasso and never forgets to clean the internal bore using the mahogony cased kit produced for me by a retired Purdey barrel borer. One of his final jobs is to top up any sundries that have been used from the king size Fortnum & Mason hamper that nestles safely in its permanent fixture ingeniously hand sewn from best English oak bark tanned harness hide by a good friend who is at the very pinnacle of his trade. All these little triffles go together to make being a modern Defender custodian so very rewarding. Steve. Owned numerous Land Rover vehicles of all shapes and sizes over the decades. I just get the local hand car wash to scratch mine unless I'm trying to avoid being inside with the kids then I could go through all those steps myself Ray

Did you forget to mention that your man pumps into the interior cab area, pure unpolluted air taken and specially bottled into pressurised containers from Tibet and blessed by their most revered monks and known as the purest air in the world. And that the washer bottle is filled with the cleanest water taken from Antarctic core drill samples over a thousand feet deep and then gently melted. Indeed. As an aside one occasionally finds he has also placed one or two bottles of '96 Dom Pérignon Oenotheque in the bespoke ice buckets [alongside the wine racks built the rear wheelarches] which I personally find to be a wonderful accompaniment when admiring the fine classic styling and majestic engine note of the 2.2 Land Rover Defender. Rebolstered my seat squabs, since they'd collapsed on the inside edge to the vehicle (where Defender drivers lean against the cubby box). Not a difficult job, just the metal rings/clips that hold the cover onto the foam were a pain, ended up leaving half of them off. May do a write up soon with pics. Pete
