Hmm, not sure; the innards are a plugin fix but as far as I can see you'd have to take the housing off to get it out anyway -- and the bolts used to mount it were badly corroded. But I might be missing your point, tricky without photos. I'll see if I can start a thread on it after getting some photos int he daylight. 2009 110 XS Station Wagon |

Finally got round to changing all the suspension(springs & shocks) to Old Man Emu and all bushes to SuperPro. Ride & handling so much better especially when towing. Sankey now sits level...ish.

Although technically it was yesterday.
Completely rebuilt/ refurbed both swivel balls and installed m gywn lewis steering bars. Had an issue with the bars, appears the thread on one end wasn't tapped again after being galved so the track rod end would only go half way in. Had to make a makeshift tap out of the track rod ends from the original bar Long story short it was a nightmare but they are on, albeit the one with he defect is almost impossible to rotate. Will ring gywn to let him know tomorrow I think. Defender 90 XS TD5 (03 Reg) |

I just did the best mod of 2014 and it was free!
Got fed up with the rear view mirror. It's of no use in the 130 and it was only blocking my view in corners. Removed it and threw it in the cubby box. It's an unsorted mess there already anyways... |

Just did a very quick test of the aerial extension mod to increase the key fob range, and it works very nicely. It might even work for a while if I can do it properly after picking up a connector tomorrow -- none to hand. 2009 110 XS Station Wagon

Fitted my new turbo hoses.
Was surprised how much oil there was in the pipes, no wander they were soggy and spongy. Have noticed though my reliable old 200Tdi has developed a bit of a knock. Not nasty sounding just sounds like a low thudding noise from mid/rear of the engine so will run it for a while and see if it gets worse. Bit of traction engine thinking, if you hear an unfamiliar noise, listen to it for a hour, its now familiar! If it doesn't last a hour because it went away- problem solved, if it broke, then you know it was a problem which case it is now self evident and can be fixed! |
