Transfer Box help required
Had a call from a mate today saying his 110 keeps clunking & banging.

I told him its a landrover & it left the factory like it Laughing

No its getting louder he says, so brings it over for me to look at.

Take it for a drive & its clonking & banging all over the place Shocked

Its a drive shaft u/j me thinks. Out with the jack & checked all & are OK

It was banging at the rear as we were driving along & speeding up & when you turn sharp corners

I then started it up & put the T box in neutral & went through the gears with engine on tick over. 1,2,3,4 were quite. 5,6 & R it sounded like a machine gun & lots of rattles coming from the T box.

Also when you start the engine theres a loud clonk as if all the slop is being taken up.

I will have to drop the oil & see what its like but I dont think its looking good Crying or Very sad

Its a 2009 110 with 75k & does alot of towing

Whats your thoughts guys please Thumbs Up

Thanks Chris

Spain 2001 Defender 90 Td5 SW Epsom Green
Sounds familiar Shocked

My 2009 did something similar to this when it threw all the teeth on the shaft between the gearbox and transfer box. Mine went at 12000 miles and there are quite a few cases of it

Have a read Thumbs Up
