hi,
I appreciate there can be a big gap between good workmanship / good practice but I wonder if there is a 'requirement' / regulation that insists on cables being supported properly. in that case I'm talking office environment / ceiling void. in the regs it mentions cables should be supported to prevent damage to them but thats about the lot ! so the way I see it slinging cables across suspended ceilings is ok albeit poor practice so far as I'm concerned. thanks. |

I think you are right.
all "best practice" and guideline rules do suggest that cables must be laid in trays/trunking/supports, and any data and mains cables cross at 90 degrees etc... But I believe it's guidelines, best practices etc, and not a legal requirement...unless it's part of local authority planning regs? I'm not an expert but I was involved in Data Centre design work a couple of years back...we always insisted on proper cable management....
