European Recovery
Does anyone know of any companys that do european breakdown and recovery for vehicles over 15 years old, my Range Rover is now 16/17yrs old and none of the usual suspects will cover it for France, Switzerland, Austria and Italy later this year. If everything is under control you are not going fast enough.

Last time I wanted recovery company's for an older vehicle I found some in the classic car mags, they were cheaper than the usual company's for newer cars! Thumbs Up I'll be interested at the other options as mines 15 years old next year & the company I use won't cover it

Just tried their website and they need a German address for membership. If everything is under control you are not going fast enough.

My P38 Range Rover is now worth so little that i am begining to think if it does breakdown to such an extent that i can't get it going limp it home i think it is going to get left somewhere in Europe.
I recon tools, spare fuel filter, spare fuel, fan belt, jump battery and leads the usual bulbs fuses ect but lots.
What else ??? second spare tyre ? I am worried about the electronics but noting you can do on the side of the road with these on a P38. If everything is under control you are not going fast enough.

Not if you phone them. I believe German address is needed for website membership.

Have you tried Britannia?

I travel a lot throughout Europe and I’m with the ADAC, from a UK address. On the two occasions we’ve needed breakdown help in the UK (once with a Defender snapped rear half-shaft, drove home using front drive, breakdown truck followed “just in case”; second time was when daughter’s old Punto blew up at a motorway service station) they used the AA as their counterpart.

So 100% satisfaction, but can’t give a price comparison.

What about the AA

Vehicles covered

AA European breakdown cover can be used for private cars, hire cars, motorbikes (over 200cc) and light vans of any age. With Lite and full cover, you can also cover campervans, motor caravans and minibuses.

I did the Help For Heroes 4x4 European Rally last year in my 20 year old 90 and the gearbox let go on the last day.

90 was recovered to local LR dealer
I was given a hire car to finish the rally and drive back to Calais
At Calais I was give a UK reg vehicle to drive back to Edinburgh
The 90 turned up 10 days later in Falkirk on the back of a low loader

Very very good service all the way
