Ashcrofts - only place I would get a Defender gearbox from (they've just rebuilt a LT77 for one of mine!)

Thanks Jeremy, I know of their reputation and im sure they do a good job, im just on a bit of a budget and was hoping to find someone local who could provide a good one. I suppose you get what you pay for |

Yes I have seen some of their ads, do you have personal experience of their work ? Problem I have is car is not mobile so could be problem getting it to ashcrofts in Luton. Am considering fitting myself but has to be done on driveway |

I have a gearbox.... 44 thousand miles, removed from my own Td5 Defender prior to it being stripped for it's rebuild. No longer a Td5, so gearbox not needed.
And yes - I have experience of AW transmissions - top bloke who does nearly all of my gearbox and transfer box rebuilds. Doesn't fit them though (but neither does Ashcrofts - they outsource). I can also do you a good price on a Flywheel and Clutch. ............. YEP, like Porny says , we use him alot...Infact just modified my own R380 box for me , for when i fit the TDCI bulkhead on my 300 tdi rebuild..Quick turnaround to. Putting Dreams on Drives at JLR Solihull.. |

just bumping this as Im still looking for a TD5 R380 gearbox either recon or one with low milage in very good condition. Ps Ive tried contacting Porny about the gearbox he has posted about but have not been able to contact him. If any of you are in contact with him would you please tell him im interested in it please |
