Flat Battery because I'm Stupid
I'll admit i'm stupid but I cant be the only one. I tend to drive around nowadays with my sidelights on and I keep forgetting to turn them off. This has resulted in 2 flat batteries overnight and lots of beating myself up. I for some reason, dont see the side lights on, and clearly cant remember to check the column switch (its an over 50 thing!). I will only get better over time, but I did wonder if anyone has ever come up with a clever reminder system?

I know it's not the biggest problem the Forum has ever been challenged with, but it's my bugbear of the moment. Oh, and I did it again yesterday.

This is why most cars have a kind of alarm to tell you to turn the lights off when the door is opened. Not the Defender simplicity can have it's drawbacks.. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️

I tend to notice the switch forward when I take the keys out, maybe because I have shovels for hands though?

you must be able to take a wire off of the door switch and the sidelight circuit through a relay and a buzzer??

It's true. Main reason why I changed mine (Interior bulbs that is). He's probably off wining and dining the local Essex ladies today so I guess he needs to be cut some slack. Whistle

I fitted a small buzzer on my beetle years ago, just wired between the fuse and something else (it was a long time ago) I bought it in a car accessory shop and went off if the lights were left on. Very cheap and worked, maybe still available?
