dm_td5 - thank's that is great
jst - I am looking at at a 110 Utility, so commercial SW, is that what you have? Question does it have the trim in the load space even though there are no seats and windows? (piccy would be top ) I was interested to see how it looked with the thumbwheels as it seems that you can drop that cage (like a ski tunnel on a saloon) to fit long loads through which would be useful. Have been reading the installation instructions you see (for accessories for a defender I don't yet own! clearly have the right obsessive mentality to be an owner?!). I was also trying to work out if you could bolt a panel to it, either to improve security (at loss of rear visibility) or to mount stuff to, such as aux fusebox up high out of way of heavy loads for example. |

bluewagon, thanks for tip, but I can't see pics on that forum as I am not a member, and milford have no pics on their website. Will probably stick to LR one as I see forum mentions drilling, where LR one uses existing mounts.

Yes you can easily drop the lower panel. The plastic headed bolts are easy to undo but the knobs do intrude into luggage space and catch on things.
Bolting a panel to it also isn't an issue (I have my UHF radio mounted on mine). Probably not an issue if you're getting a commercial 110 but in the 5/7 seater the second row seat clamps in the floor can no longer be folded down because of the barrier. Installation is easy, though I had to retap two M6 bolt holes and replace the boltsRH on the C-pillar as the thread stripped on removing the bolts to attach the bracket. A Milford barrier is now being made for the Puma 5 seater (a commercial would still take the older Defender's barrier) in Australia and they are a much stronger, one piece unit. Unlike the LR OEM though they do still require drilling of holes to fit. 110 2.4TDCi 110 300Tdi LROCV ::: AULRO.com |

Hi TallPaul The Milford cargo barrier Pics are here http://www.flickr.com/photos/bluewagon/ I carry a lot of heavy gear in the back and kids in the front, so went for the Milford barrier because of its extreme robustness. Not much seems to attach well to the defenders without some drilling!!...Snorkel, aux tanks, chequerplate, aux electrics etc etc. and the cargo barrier was no exception. Cheers Mark |

Thanks guys!
Not sure you can buy the milford here, appreciate its a better made bit of kit, but for my purposes the OEM one that drop's down will be fine and is more practical for the odd occasion I need the space. Its as much for security as for safety, I doubt I will be loaded to the roofline or with heavy kit or I would look for stronger, appreciate even small items are lethal in a big accident etc but I have to look for what's suitable for my use and UK risks. JST no worries on pics, thanks for letting me know about carpet. might look to board it out, I head that side panels don't take much to dent from inside out so have to consider that. Asking questions, as I have not seen any dealers with utility in stock, so doubt I will get to see one for real before I buy. Bluewagon - not a great fan of chequerplate and don't need snorkel/RAI so can avoid drilling the wings, but aux battery and split charge will be moved over from our Disco so I need to make my peace with drilling it about pretty quick I suppose! |

Milford barriers will assist in a roll over as well (I'm still alive thanks to one). They also export to the UK fro memory. That said the LR OEM isn't as strong, but will still act as a barrier and will offer some roof protect in a rollover.
For the dual battery you shouldn't have to drill much if you install it next to the main battery. Just a couple of rivnuts to hold the battery clamps and maybe a couple of bolt holes for the controller. 110 2.4TDCi 110 300Tdi LROCV ::: AULRO.com |

I'm going to put the OEM one in. If you want to get it cheap, the best price I've found is from Duckworth Parts.
It makes sense to have something to protect against flying debris - especially as my little chap often rides with me and I load the back up to the roof some times. One that started out as a 2.4 TDCi 110 XS + New Defender 110 First Edition |

The duckworth price does seem good value, still, gives the dealer something to aim at!

What's the difference between a 'dog guard' (pre 2007) and a 'cargo barrier' (2007 onward)

I've got a dog-guard in my Td5 110, i'll take a piccie in the morning.
It's quite substantial though. one piece, no folding out parts. but easily removed with two M6 bolts. |
