I tried to look up the aerial details last night but couldn't be bothered in the end. No Guts, No Glory.

Now have the correct keys and Chad has given me lots of advice but .... it still will not budge
Must be about the only thing Land Rover have fitted that will stay put for life I was going to just take the centre dash out (it has to be removed anyway) but am now worried about what is actually stopping the radio from coming out and damaging the dash. What I am doing is inserting the keys, I can hear/feel them releasing the locks, and then trying to pull the radio out. I think one of the problems is there is nothing to get a decent grip on as the front fascia plate is off. There are two small plastic strips but even these are not enough to get a grip on with pliers etc. Anybody got any ideas apart from a stick of dynamite Bob Oh - Halfords can't get the thing out either, I have just come back from there. 2015 Jaguar XE240 R Sport - goes like ....... !! 2013 Defender 90 CSW - sold 2009 Defender 110 Double Cab - sold 2001 TD5 90 CSW - offroad project - sold to a forum member 2011 Porsche Boxster - for the sunny days ! |

Shouldn't the keys lock in when correcty inserted, so the keys themselves can then be used to pull the HU out?
I am unfamiliar with the HU you have, but every other one I have ever removed has been thus. |

That was what I thought but the correct Alpine keys for the CDE130R are basically just flat bits of metal that have nothing to lock onto anything.
Halfords tried all the keys they had and the thing would not budge. Bob 2015 Jaguar XE240 R Sport - goes like ....... !! 2013 Defender 90 CSW - sold 2009 Defender 110 Double Cab - sold 2001 TD5 90 CSW - offroad project - sold to a forum member 2011 Porsche Boxster - for the sunny days ! |

Update - it's out
For anyone else with the same problem the solution was simple. Firstly, the official Alpine keys will NOT remove the standard radio - they have no lugs to pull the unit out, they are just flat metal. You need the keys in the link Chad posted or similar keys. Halfords tried the keys but nothing moved. I purchased a set from the link and had the same result. The problem is the lugs that are supposed to lock into the side of the radio to pull it out, as purchased they don't. Five minutes with a pair of pliers, bent the lugs out slightly so there was more to lock into, and they worked a treat Now I can start the electrical mods Bob 2015 Jaguar XE240 R Sport - goes like ....... !! 2013 Defender 90 CSW - sold 2009 Defender 110 Double Cab - sold 2001 TD5 90 CSW - offroad project - sold to a forum member 2011 Porsche Boxster - for the sunny days ! |
