I have one on mine (1990) but only because it was either that or have a hole in the bonnet for the gearbox dipstick to come through Smile http://www.yorkshireoffroadclub.net/

I don't see anything wrong with either myself. I think the main attraction of fitting Puma bonnets to earlier defenders is to update them. It is possible for the un-trained eye and with a personal plate to make an older Defender look like brand new. TheThunder Rolls🇬🇧🇺🇸

But that's a problem for all of us. Neutral Extra security is the answer even if it's homemade. If it was America they would probably rig up a shotgun under there to fire if removed / stolen. Rolling with laughter TheThunder Rolls🇬🇧🇺🇸

But those older Defenders owners wanting to make theirs look younger is feeding the demand. No demand, non get nicked.

Laughing If we all paid service to that comment all the companies that provide extras would go under in no time at all. Isn't the fact that the Defender having been around for so long and there being a multitude of suppliers providing each and every owner the opportunity to upgrade and personalise their vehicle part of the attractiveness of the vehicle?

Certainly was for me! Thumbs Up

Each to their own! If the guy wants a Puma bonnet and it comes from a reliable source good luck to him, it will give his vehicle a modern makeover as long as the rest of it isn't a shed.

Thumbs Up If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

The bonnets I can possibly understand but doors as well? I think that so many are stolen because they're so easy to steal. I personally have only seen one older Defender with a Puma style bonnet and that was Killer's.

Party Monkey has a hand in reporting dodgy E-Bay deals as part of Landywatch but I am unaware currently of any feedback from such reporting? If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Not talking about extras, but yes of course they make the vehicle more desirable to the untermenschen, I was referring in particular to the Puma bonnets which, in the main I would guess are bought, not from main dealers or authorised salvage dealers, but from Ebay and the like.
