"Fir Tree" clips, cable glands and dyeing nylon!
Tried to get the roof lining out today to route some lighting cables and coax, and 9 out of the 10 "fir tree" clips broke off, either fully or half the head! And that is with the proper tools to get the bl00dy things out..
I think rivnuts and flanged M5 button head screws will be the way to go when I refit things!

I got a couple of side entry cable glands for the internal / external transitions for the wires, and had a play at dyeing the very light grey nylon something darker and more likely to blend with Stornoway Grey, so as not to shine out on the roof! Here's a piccy of the difference.. Supposed to be Elephant Grey, but came out almost black.. Definitely an improvement when seen on the roof.. [URL=]

Was at Index Marine's new industrial unit just last week. They do make the best electrical glands I've seen, be it in stainless, aluminium or polycarbonate and I use quite a few in the course of my job.
You get exactly what you pay for but they're not cheap. I blew about £150 on just 9 glands 3 of them the same as depicted, didn't mind so much as it wasn't my money.

Thumbs Up If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!

Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!!

That's an interesting idea, Paul. Where are you going to mount them? Darren

Haven't fully decided wether to have them on opposite sides, or both together... ... ,-------,
