. I have no doubt about the super service on offer and my 2.2. Will be done ASAP but is the drop off and pick up for me at your local GNR station or for my defender up here in the outer Hebridean islands ? |

I have had every engined Defender except the 2.4 Puma and this latest engine is a revelation. I really don't understand performance tuning for a utility vehicle, but each to their own. I also except that the fuel consumption I these vehicles is poor due to weight, transmission and aerodynamics, so when someone claims MPG increases through tuning I am interested. I also know that tuners will claim unrealistic MPG gains to attract custom, that's advertising I suppose. I am not taken in by it at all, but Killer90s figures were especially high and I am therefore interested as to how he came by them, hence the interest in his tuning of the 2.2.
The current Puma engined Defender drives fine and does not need to be tuned if the vehicle is to be used as LR intended. Once you lower it, add under car lighting and a bombastic stereo you are in Citroen Saxo territory, which is somewhere I don't want to be. Any mileage gains that tuning did provide would take years to recoup in any case. As I say, not my thing, but if its yours have fun! |

Oh and it voids your warranty and puts up your insurance premium, assuming you tell them. Swopping your 'original' ECU back whilst you are waiting for LRA to come and recover you is not a prospect I savour either. But as I say there are those who it suits and that's the way of the world!

i do agree on the figures killer has given but as you say he wont know this until he tunes ones and someone has driven it a few hundred even thousand miles ?
also as you say if drivability is good why change it steve 2015 2.2 tdci hardtop xs 3.2 conversion DONE 238bhp and 707nm torque and thats just the start ;-P hybrid turbo in build -done ready to fit ashcroft atb in transfer box 6 speed auto in build |
