^^^^ Plenty available on the market just needs careful checking of details and specs before committing to purchase.

Some time ago I installed a JVC kd-x50bt unit, it has front and rear USB, rear aux, remote, iPod/iPhone connect, bluetooth.

Cheers all.
The Kenwood looks pretty good and great value .... but what the hell is "Blue illumination with emotional illumination effect." ? I get the blue illumination bit, but 'emotional illumination effect ' ... come on now Kenwood... Can I make it match the green of my dashboard lights or not Cheers, Superspoons |

I agree - the Kenwoods have great specs for a sensible price (very nice one in Wifey's Beetle) but I wish they would do a "toned down" unit. Gloss black with chrome trim and flashing rainbow lights just doesn't look right in my Defender Tell someone you love them today because life is short.
But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

With both comments above the reasoning is are you sure your not looking at the cheaper and lowest end of the range? The majority of the £80 - £120 one's of all makes can be a bit to be desired. A lot of the higher / mid range HU's have not just select illumination colours i.e. red blue and green but variable illumination which you can choose ANY colour you can think of on a colour pallet chart. Again I know the KVT 526 has it and also other's do also but I can't be expected to know all of them.
You could have purple Matt if you wanted. Or white for Killer. (Dare I say it!) No Guts, No Glory. 🇬🇧ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ¥ó ®ó §ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ·ó ¬ó ³ó ¿ðŸ´ó §ó ¢ó ³ó £ó ´ó ¿ðŸ‡®ðŸ‡ªðŸ‡ºðŸ‡¸â›½ï¸ðŸ›¢ï¸âš™ï¸ðŸ§°ðŸ’ª |

The JVC kd-x50bt does have variable illumination, any colour... and all that for approx € 85. Excellent. I think it's a good way to go full stop. The technology is now readily available so it should be used. IIRC I think on some you can have a 2-part display so you can have the whole fascia display single colour or a two colour display if that makes sense? IMO for all manufacturers variable display should be standard also should DAB now or at least start. And stop selling "DAB" HU's and integrate it. Saying that it's easier said than done I realise. DAB is better than FM in a Defender anyway I can't be bothered to extend the aerial all the time for that and then there's nothing any good on it hardly either. Oooh - now you're talking I guess what I'll always be looking for is pretty much a clone of the LR unit - rugged looking (e.g. rubberised matt black) and understated but with USB, bluetooth, separate sub support etc. Don't mind paying for it either - isn't the LR one around £400? Happy Easter all Matt Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

No idea what they are new Matt? Only trouble is with that idea is the features required really need a screen if not lots of buttons instead. And I know which of those is worse to use whilst driving along. It's like trying to pin the tail on the donkey blindfolded. No Guts, No Glory.

you could take a look at the jvc kd-avx77
I haven't seen anything with a cleaner front than this. nice and unobtrusive. I have set the background colour to black with white text. certainly looks a lot tidier with all the cables hidden. I use the usb connection to power my phone and play music from it via Bluetooth. controls on the remote for play/pause skip etc all control the player on the phone. v.happy with set up, just need to get that kicker hideaway fitted. |

Ok, I've bit the bullet and bought the JVC kd-x50bt. I don't use CD's anymore and for the price, £75 it's a no brainer. Cheers,
