That a back road single lane road less than a mile long that linke nowhere that can't be got to with a 5 min detour has the council digging our the snow drifts yet a main road linking two villages 6 miles apart is left blocked meaning a half hour detour if you're lucky?
I'm left struggling to look after my sheep and my day takes 3 times as long yet we can't let the poor townies be denied the quickest access to the pub.it makes my blood boil. Rhubarb and custard let fly with their secret weapon. |

Feel for you at this time mate. Hope the white is gone soon and that your sheep come though OK. Just about coping here but will run out of fodder before the grass ever gets going, even if it thaws out over easter.

^^^^Agree! It is also a civilised one where 'petty gripes' are usually the general topic of conversation. There are many many countries out there where the 'value of life' is less than that of the cost of a loaf of bread here, where people have to eek out a living from dirt, sand and dust! On reflection snow or not there isn't much wrong with this country in my book, it just needs a little fine tuning and fettling! If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

I wouldn't say the whole financial situation for the country and the public in it needs "just a little fine tuning" though... It's fine for bit earners (although even they will be taxed more) but the rest of us can get stuffed. And us people in rural areas and less well off farmers can get stuffed as far as the government is concerned. Where as city people are obviously of higher importance as I see it. The attitude now is if you can''t make ends meet well that's your hard luck mate. Your fault (even if it isn't) your problem (even if not caused by you) and your hard luck and do something about it. (Not always possible) ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️ |

Of course they are! The hubs of all economy and their puppet masters are all city based. Cities will always be the major driving factor when it comes to Economics. The issue here is the fact a little of the white stuff and Blighty grinds to a halt, always has and always will! Europe seems to cope a lot better. With regards to the following quote I can't see the point you're trying to make at all?
If you can't make ends meet you should surely cut your cloth accordingly? What are you're expectations and/or who do you think should rush in and assist those that fall on hard times? If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!! Treat every day as if it is your last....one day you will be right!! |

Why explain what the PM was about? It was about the original post not the financial crisis in Cyprus or Kate Middleton's baby. Would it help if we all refrain from making any posts at all and leave the forum clear for the man to sell his LED's. |

K9 - You seem to be under the impression that my post was aimed in your direction. It was not. It was me showing my views. Not trying to make a point as such.
The government got the country into this mess and the public are expected to get it out of it at no cost to the "fat cats" themselves. I wonder how much they cut down. Perhaps turn down the occasional glass of Champagne I expect.. ⭐️⭐️God Bless the USA 🇬🇧🇺🇸 ⭐️⭐️ |

Not at all Steve, in fact just the opposite, we all have opportunities in life and mine was sticking with the RAF for 32 years and now drawing a nice pension, this in effect means that the economy and the state it's in doesn't affect me too much and without employment I would still cope. Nice place to be...... It was historical Governments that got us into this mess who were voted in by Joe Public, that's what democracy is all about. Not many were complaining when times were good? I think they're now trying to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear. You have to remember it's not just us but the whole of Europe as well. I've definately missed a trick somewhere?

Why post a line saying you've sent a PM? He'll get a notification next time he logs on. |

I do feel for you, but the fact is as follows; If there is a road blocked that is cutting people off, for instance a road that doesn't have an alternative route, then that will be a priority over a route that does have an alternative route. EDIT: hmm, just read it properly!.....actually, you're right, doesn't make sense...... Out of interest, does a bus run on this route? They always seem to get priority. I know how you feel, I met up with a very tired looking farmer mate on Saturday afternoon that had spent 24 hours getting all his hundreds of sheep indoors, luckily, he was able to clear the roads himself.
