E C U update & more queries
Hi all.
Just a few queries to pick your brains with, Firstly we've just has the 2008 (57) 110 dcpu into the lr dearlers wor some warranty work ie a clunk on the drive train when changing gear, that lr put down to a leaky transfer box into the hand brake and they seem to have cured the fault but they have also updated the software on the ecu thus removig the Twisted Performance remap. Why is this update needed and will my 08 (58 ) SVX need the update?.

I now plan to get one of Petes switchable remap modules does anyone have first hand experience of these and would they work on two vehicles?

Finally at what revs does your puma tickover when warmed as the 110 sits at approx 500rpm and my SVX sits at a steady 750 rpm? Would the decat stainless exhaust be causing this difference on the 110?

Cheers in advance for your advice, Darrenn. Formerly mao99999

The remap is to stop poor mid range power, the tick over I think is non adjust, taking the cat out may cause the differance, we're leaving the re map until out of warranty as you've lost your re map, will BAS do it again foc?
On our TD5 Marshalls swopped our ECU for another god knows why,Jeremy Fearn re mapped the other foc. 2.4 90 XS

i,ve had the dealer download, its transformed mine throughout the rev range.

I also had a de cat pipe thats now been scrapped and the cat is back on, the back pressure is key to the variable geometry turbo and once mine was removed to put the de cat on it stopped spooling up !

It didnt like being free flowing and is driving absolutely perfect now ! DEFENDER XS CSW 08 TONGA GREEN

Grockle,

Are you talking about the EGR ?

It was the catalyst i took off, i replaced it with a de-cat pipe ! i spoke to a very reputeable aftermarket tuning company who told me they had encountered several cases sounding very much like what i was reporting, they advised me to put it back on and hey presto, the turbo comes in earlier and stronger.

As for the EGR, i,m not contemplating that until it can be overcome ! as yet and as far as i know there are no blanking plates available to remove the valve ? DEFENDER XS CSW 08 TONGA GREEN

Not solely it was to also fix the lack of power and engine light on cold starts...it was my understanding it was this fault that got more and more common that forced land rover to come up with a fix....the fix being tracked down to the software when originally they thought it was the pressure relief valve on the common rail...this however was a direct sympton of the problem not the problem its self YOU KNOW REHAB IS FOR QUITTERS!!!!
