78.000 Kms plus on the 2008 Puma so I decided it was time to change the gearbox and transfer box oil. There is a very informative post in the Puma tdci section on this. Not having all the correct bits and pieces to fit the plugs and not fancying rolling around on the cold ground -not to mention banging my head off the Puma's nether regions- I headed for the local garage to use their lift.
Using a hydraulic lift and all the correct bits the draining was done but the filling was another matter as I had one litre bottles. The solution was to remove the cubby box and inspection tray. I was then installed in the Puma, sent up to the stratosphere. I then passed the end of a pipe connected to a funnel through the space where the inspection hatch usually resides. One of the mechanics then installed it into the filler hole on the gearbox and I filled by pouring the oil into a funnel attaced to the pipe. It takes a while for it to travel down but it beats lying on the ground. When the gearbox was done the pipe was removed and the filler plug replaced and torqued by the mechanic. The transfer box was done in the same way. So to sum up. I sat in the vehicle and poured the oil in while the mechanic refitted and torqued the plug. The cost of my time at the garage was €5. This is what I used http://www.micksgarage.com/proddetails.asp...p;pk=EA876 1982 88" 2.25 diesel 1992 110 200tdi csw -Zikali 2008 110 2.4 tdci csw-Zulu 2011 110 2.4 tdci csw-Masai |
