9 x 9 or 12 x 12 canvas ?

Which size military canvas for rear of the LR is best on camping trips ?

2005 Defender 90 Td5 XS CSW Bonatti Grey

9x9 The 12x12 would take up the whole of a 110.
9x9 is easily erected by two people, you need four for a 12x12.
Poles for either are around six feet long, so you'll need roof bars.
Our 9x9 takes two campbeds with a fridgebox and table with double burner in between, with a portapotty at the foot of one bed and kit at the foot of the other.

Yep you both are correct , the 12 x 12 brings great memories but 9 x 9 I think more appropriate as I'm not gona get much help from the missus and 2 6yr old girls . Thanks for the input .

Me and my 7 stone wet through girlfriend, 3 dogs and all our kit managed very well in a 'borrowed' 9x9 in Sweden last year. Try lifting a 12 x 12 onto your roof on your own, especially if its wet!

Thanks for kind offer , I'm gona buy from Anchor supplies , new is £900 and used £700 for 9x9 .

You can erect a 9x9 on your own BUT it does take a bit of practice 110 D250 SE HT

i was looking at Anchor supplies who's price is 700-995 but found a military surplus called milweb.net . Seem very reasonable prices .

For that stronger money I would be inclined towards an oztent, but for £250 I would give the 9x9 consideration. Still second best though in my opinion. Speed, weight, relatively low volume all in favour of the oztent. Captain Nick Medhurst would ask:
"What is the first rule when overlanding?"

Yippee ! Got my 9x9 at last . Brand new with all accessories , MK3 wolf edition £400 . Delighted . Off on a ferry trip to Belfast to pick it up . The seller also has a huge collection of millitary landrovers and motorbikes . Will also take a trip to the Titanic exhibition . So killing 3 birds with one stone not bad .
