[For Sale] For sale or swap. BFG AT 285/65/18 x 5
My newly purchased 90 has Twisted wheels with 285/65/18 tyres and i'd like to go for 265/65 profile to get a bit more headroom in the garage, plus I don't need such a big tyre for mainly road driving.

I reckon they're 4 years old, 5 at the most and have plenty of life in them. Happy to swap or open to offers, not sure what theyre worth.

The profile of a tyre defines the height as a percentage of the width, so it will make a difference. A 265/65 has a sidewall height of approx. 172mm whilst a 285/65 is around 185mm - about 13mm or half an inch difference under the diffs or about inch diameter over all. Darren

I beg to differ with the first response.

The 65 part of 285/65/R18 or 265/65/R18 is the sidewall height as a percentage of the width.

65% of 265 is smaller than 65% of 285 so the tyre will be less tall. In this case an overall difference of about an inch. This will give a theoretical 1/2 inch lowering to the vehicle.

Edited: Beaten to it again 1995 300 Tdi Epsom Green - It's a keeper.
