Steve, went BF all terrain myself from MUDs, a really good all rounder, impressed with them that day on "The plain". Better road manners in everything except powder snow. In compacted snow MUDs are useless by comparison! Big fog swears by his stt's though so it's one of them dilemmas !

I've just replaced my old 265 STTs with a set of 285s. Utterly fantastic tyres, and never let me down in the four years I've been using them. Peter

Peter - What sort of mileage did you get out of them ? Mainly roads or off road? How much taller is a 265 and a 285 over a 235 - I still want to be able to get my truck in the garage with the rack on. |

I've put around 28,000 miles on them, and they've still got maybe a year's life left in them (the front have between 5 and 8mm, and the backs more as I never have any weight in the pick-up bed), but I wanted to change them whilst I could still sell them on. Mainly on road, but a green lane thrown in every month.
Changing from the 265s to 285s the car's probably sitting about a centimeter and a half higher. It doesn't look much taller, but my old legs feel it when getting in! Peter 2008 SWB Truck Cab 1952 80" Soft top |

Steve, what is a General MTR? (as in the title...) You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.

Hi,
I have MTR's on Wolf rims, take offs from new Defender. Had them for circa a year and 10k, no wear issues as yet. I would say an excellent all round tyre very quiet, no grip issues, no vibration at speed - cheeper to replace than many. They have been used offroad and on with no issues. My BFG MTRs have about 35K on them (or is that 'off them'?) and they're still looking great.

On page 51 of LRO March edition is a picture of a new General mud tire. The Grabber MT. Looks good at first sight, probably direct competition of the KM2 (which in the same picture). Anyone have an opinion? You never actually own a Defender. You merely look after it for the next generation.
