Derbyshire Police are once again reminding Glossop Land Rover owners to be especially vigilant and ensure their vehicles are fully secured at all times after a further attempted theft of a vehicle in the High Peak area.

At about 2.45am on Tuesday 19th Feb 2013, an attempt was made to steal a Land Rover Defender from a driveway on Manchester Road in Chapel en le Frith, High Peak.

The offenders forced entry into the vehicle, causing damage to locks, a window and the ignition switch. When disturbed, three males ran to a medium sized white van nearby and drove off at speed towards Chapel en le Frith.

Anyone with CCTV coverage of the area or information on the incident is asked to contact the Police on 101 quoting crime number 6989/13.

Around here there is a Land Rover theft reported virtually every week...I get the local Derbyshire police newsletter and its depressing the number of Defenders stolen or doors/bonnet taken that are reported.

It's that bad, the police are offering discounted steering locks and were doing free "smart water" marking of key components before Christmas.

Cheers
