2011 Defender 110 Puma 2.4 SW Cairns Blue
IT - Webhosting help required
our contruction company has recently updated its website however we are trying to get the old website to redirect traffic to the new site, the problem is that the old hosting company - elite internet net - arent responding to any of our emails or callbacks.

is there anyway of seeing if this company is 'live' or can we redirect traffic from our old site to the new site any other way.

ps please keep any answers very basic in IT tech speak Embarassed [/b]

This can be extremely tricky as the domain name registration systems are not really geared up particularly well for situations where you have an AWOL/bust/rogue hosting company.

Drop me details of the old web site via PM and I'll see what I can find out.

If you have a control panel with the hosting company you can login to, can you setup a redirect in there?
Another option is
Transfer out the domain name to the new provider and alter the DNS record to point to the website new site?
(DNS Record is the bit that takes a friendly name such as defender2.net and converts it to a unique address for that website).
or
Transfer out the domain name, register with the company and create a very simple website that does an auto-redirect to your new company 1999 Defender TD5 110
