2015 Defender 90 Puma 2.2 XS CSW Keswick Green

I had a right game with AF trying to get cover on a new 90.

In the last three years or so I've never had a problem. Reasonable price and the cover I want, but this time it was hard work.

The staff don't seem to be as well trained as they used to be.

With the recent stolen statistics I reckon we're all in for some form of insurance premium hike on renewal irrespective of under/overwriters.........possibly.

Keep an eye on what underwriter AF give you. AF were cheapest on my D3 for some years with an outfit called "Markerstudy" - reviews on them seem a bit variable though in the event of a claim, so have switched to Land Rover. Tony

Two drivers: Me and the Mrs (1 claim last year on her own insurance some hit her car and drove off, £1500 damage)
No points
Mods declared (winch, a bar with spots, alloys)
Daily driver
LR 110 TD5 1999.

up by £100 from last year.

I renewed with NFU. Rang up the office, asked them do better and they did

I forgot who my missus worked for today

Waiting on a call back from the NFU
and tried FluxDirect but ended up a AF - so no go there! (currently with them) 1999 Defender TD5 110

Like you John I've just had my renewal through for my '05 110 CSW from AF.

£617
Modified in so much as it has Alloys & privacy glass.
Fully comp
10 years Protected NCD
Me & the wife.
SD&P and commuting (up to 12k per year)

It's up by around £100 on last year.

I've tried the usual suspects including NFU (£722) but AF seems to be the cheapest. Has anyone else found a cheaper insurer? "If it ain't sideways, you just ain't tryin'!

NFU were by far the cheapest this year on my entire 'fleet' - I've used their Bristol office (even though I'm in Kent) as they were considerably cheaper than their Kent counterpart - 01249 655 221

I managed to get them down by £25. NFU roughly quoted me £640 but wanted to check some stuff with the underwriters and didn't call me back 1999 Defender TD5 110

Well, I thought I'd just dig this thread back up.

I had to add a driver to my policy today, so I thought I'd better declare some more mods that I've done.

So I've added;

Cooper STT (265) tyres
30mm Spacers - usually an insurance ££££ generator
Steering guard

Imagine my surprise when the guy came back on the phone to say "That's made no difference to your premium sir".

Nice to have some good news.

My premium was no change too with Mach 5 wider wheels, LED lights, spotlights, chequerplate etc. etc. too. If you go through life with your head in the sand....all people will see is an ar5e!!
