Another alternative that you may have not considered is to upgrade the wife!

I find anything over 30 deg and the aircon starts to struggle. Best is to put it on full blast and re-circulate the air, and only use the top vents.
As for the wife, get her one of those spray bottles from a hardware / garden store, and fill with water. |

I crossed Spain last summer first days of August, with temperatures surrounding 40º/42º (never got to 47º it's true) and the aircon behaved very well! Recirculating the air, and on position 2 or 3 (noisy as hell though). Did spent an obscene amount of diesel more, it's true!

I got a HCPU 2 seater, small cabin, and at mid day, 36°C, blazing sun, aircon struggling ...
I will put on some of that solar film on the windows one of these days. Should cut out most of the heat of the sun coming in through the windows. And have to put some insulation on the floor and bulkhead, get rid of the cat etc etc. We run the car at 2, recirculate and only blowing from the "frog eyes" and centre bits. If I run it on the window vents we get condensation on the outside of the windows due to the high humidity here. |

Put your foot down and tell her Africa is not for sissies On a more serious note, do a decat, which will alleviate the cabin heating up, and do an air-con regas? -- 2010 Defender Puma 90 + BAS remap + Alive IC + Slickshift + Ashcroft ATB rear 2015 Range Rover Sport V8 Supercharged Defender Puma Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zZ1en9 Discovery 4 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zXrtKO Range Rover/Sport L320/L322/L494 Workshop Manual: https://bit.ly/2zc58JQ |

Unfortunatley lads, we're having the same issues in Oz. It would appear Land rover built the air con system for 'English' summers
Have a look here http://www.aulro.com/afvb/90-110-130-defen...ssues.html I hope this does not contravene any forum rules by putting a link to another forum, if so I apologise in advance. Mick |

That's what the heaters for! Air con was installed to reduce legroom even more and to make overseas owners in hot countries moan as much as we do! |

Thanks, she is going in for a turbo gasket next week, I will ask LR to check the aircon gas and find out who could do a decat here in Windhoek.

I experienced similar through the Karoo although we still got cold air......just not cold enough. Booked in for monday for an oil change and will be checking the aircon gas also.
I also have experienced this in my e46 BM. At around 45 to 50 deg C the aircon really battled to cool the car down. You definitely have something wrong with yours then. What temps are you talking about. All 4 of our cars (BM, Landy, Citroen and Suzuki) battle in high temps (45 deg C +) as well as my old mans cruiser.
