in short
Snow, whiteout no indication of where the side of the road was and in an instant Nose pushing snow till hood hight took a bit of shoveling to get the winch visible Pulling the only tree available under 90° resulted in A) pulled out tree B) broken CV joint as wheel was catching on side of road at hub hight and i had the perfect idea to assist the ATB's by hitting the brakes while on full throttle and with full lock wheels 2 minutes after we were stuck another car did the same, some 30 meters behind us. Big laughs when we saw 2 yellow reflecting vests getting out.... police they called the road service so got pulled out by the plowtruck. had a tea and chat with the officers afterwards and we agreed to keep the story that they were late as they had to help us and we because we were helping them Half shaft stripped and CV joint blown, hoping on a quick part delivery and some time to do some random things on the 110 in the mean time. Be safe and aware, snow is nice and fun but it bites you when you dont expect it. Admin note: this post has had its images recovered from a money grabbing photo hosting site and reinstated |

diff is 100% ok upgrade wont be, its a bit of a steep step cost wise to go to full ashcroft (you have to take the CV and axles in once/both sides etc) while stock is ok to me and only gave in because of my mistake. It was really stupid go standing on the brakes at +3000rpm in low 2nd (bit too much of adrenaline i guess) Something had to let go and it did I am also sure the halfshaft would have been ok if i didn't drive home 3km. (With complete empty tire as the husky pulled it off the rim while winching against the road edge) So balance is around 70 euro,(not 1000 as upgrading would be) or a good night out as i would call it |
