Need some advice please...
I'm looking to try a new rear prop on my 110 Tdci (MY11) to get rid of some shaking. Paddocks do props from Bailey-Morris and GKN Hardy-Spicer. Are these similar/good makes - are there others/better? Cheers for any help, Matt Tell someone you love them today because life is short. But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

Bailey Morris make a range of "extreme" Land Rover props which are the same as the ones Gwyn Lewis supplies.
Be aware that the UJs are not standard - they're larger and stronger, which is fine until you come to replace them and they're £40 odd each. |

Thanks for all the info. It looks as though Bailey Morris is my best bet (as I thought) and as no-one has mentioned GKN Hardy-Spicer I'll steer clear of them.
I asked Paddocks about this one (no answer yet): http://www.paddockspares.com/wide-angle-pr...rakes.html But it states "Disc Brakes to 2A638133" - that's 2002 isn't it? Will it really not fit a Puma? I'm looking for a replacement that is built to finer tolerances and can handle more torque than the stock one. I don't actually need better articulation but I think it will be a useful side-effect. This looks the biz ![]() But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

That's what they are here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/170731718415 I actually bought them direct from Bailey Morris in the end, and I don't remember them being much cheaper if at all. If you have another source I'd like to know for next time they go. |

I suspect that the puma 110 prop is different to the Td5 as the puma gearbox is mounted in a different position, hence the lengh of prop change, eventhough the rear axle is the same. Td5 and V8 have the same part number. Puma 110 rear is LR010463 I thought GKN made the factory props, so they can't be that bad, can they? |

Is the position of the transfer box between TD5 and 2.4 so different, I wonder? On the 2.4 I have to take the prop right off to get to the handbrake drum - I assumed it was due to LR re-use of parts from the TD5
![]() Basically, I want to try a different (non standard) prop to see if it has any effect on some shuddering/vibration. I've no possibility here to "borrow" one and driving "rear-propless" probably won't help as it will change the resonance of the drivetrain. I already turned my prop through 180 degrees and the vibration got quite a bit better, which is why I hope I'm on the right track. I figured if I have to buy another prop to find out, it might as well be a bloody good one! That way, if I'm wrong, at least I have something worthwhile to show for it ![]() But shout it at them in German because life is also terrifying and confusing... |

Would it be possible to get your original prop rebalanced? It may be a cheap way of finding out if that is your problem with the vibration. From what I've seen they just spin your prop up and weld on a weight where necessary.

GKN hardy spicer are good, most use GKN replacement UJs on normal props.
next time i do a UJ i will dig out the MPN. Cheers James 110 2010 XS Utility 130 2011 M57 bespoke Camper 90 2010 Hardtop 90 M57 1988 Hardtop |

I brought my props direct from Bailey Morris. Very nice people.
A mate of mine had a vibration on his Tdci, he fitted new prop, but this did not help, so altered the fazing of the uj's and that sorted his issues, he did this with advice from Gwyn Lewis. Andy |
