The battery on my 2002 Disco2 packed up last year, and I replaced it with another Genuine Parts one from LR (Delphi IIRC), on the basis that the old one had lastest 10 years without any problems whatsoever (despite running a Warn XD9000i), and also I couldn't find anyone who made one of the same spec.
It also avoided any issues with charging rates (I believe that the originals are lead calcium batteries which require a higher charging voltage than lead acid). The part numbers for Disco2 and Defender batteries are the same, by the way. It might also be worth bearing in mind that the standard Defender battery vents any hydrogen discharge through a pipe passing through the floor, and I haven't seen provision for this on any aftermarket battery (although it probably isn't essential). |

My original battery lasted for six years.
Fitted a genuine part. Now two years old and going strong. ![]() |

Looked through my service history the other day and I'm still on my original clutch and battery, not bad for 150,000miles and 10 1/2years.
Now that's ![]() ![]() |

How long does an exhaust last?
At nearly eight years, mine's looking good as new. ![]() |

I took my middle box and downpipe with cat off last year and they look as good as new apart from having to cut the joining bolts which start to corrode when you take the spanner of them at fitting time
![]() Seems to be that if they are used and not parked up then they last longer. |
