One for the South Africans to hopefully answer...
Hi All

Not really a technical question...

Drove from Cape Town to PE around Xmas, it was 36C driving up and just over 40C driving back down afterwards. The Missus has since suggested that we need a vehicle with aircon... I have no plans on getting rid of my TD5, so I popped into the local Landy dealer.

The new 2.2 looks ok, however the problems started with the vehicle I want to order which is the 110 Utility. The dealer was happy to give me a price and quoted options, however things went a little downhill after this as they then decided I could not order this particular style of Defender in SA..

So, can anyone confirm if I can actually order the 110 Utility in SA as I got the dealer extremely confused. If I can, which dealer have you guys ordered the vehicle through?

Thanks

Tom

You mean the full-length single-cab 110 bakkie or the 110 with only front seats? I'm sure I've seen both these models around, so it must be available. --

Right, they don't bring these to RSA, but I don't see why they can't order one. It's not like back windows are a deal-breaker? --

I am with Naks

2 windows should not be a deal braker. Get the car and just replace the rear windows with two gullwing doors if you are desperate not to have those windows.

And yes, we do not get the utilities in RSA.

One of the best, if not the best, mod you can do on a Defender. Makes camping so much easier! Thumbs Up

Since they can't bring in the utility for you, bargain to get them to pay a percentage of the gullwing doors, tell them it's a deal breaker for you? --

Naks I'll probably follow your suggestion - I'm only just slowly coming round to the idea of having an extra set of doors and windows in the back!

Funnily enough, they were able to quote me on it, coming in at around R390k.... So I was hoping I'd find a dealer that was willing to bring one in.

Cheers for the responses guys.

I've also done mine and have no regrets at all. The utility would not be as practical to me. "Overlanding With Bruce" - Youtube https://www.youtube.com/@OverlandingwithBruce
