Many moons ago my Dad took his 110 into a multi-storey. He edged it under the height barrier, keeping a watchful eye out of the sunroof, got through, went and parked. We went off as a family with some friends to do whatever it was we were doing. Later he returned BY HIMSELF to discover that the defender had grown an inch or two during the few hours it had been in the car park! And would no longer fit under the barrier. He had to ask some nearby strangers to get in to compress the rear suspension so that it would fit through again. Lesson learnt. He hasn't ever gone into a multi-storey again. Laughing

Ha! I can imagine some odd looks from strangers when you ask them to get in the back of your Defender.

Reminds me of my last year at uni. My pride and joy was an immaculate MKII Golf GTi. I had parked next to a line of rocks and the passenger door opened above them. However, I was giving my house mate a lift and she was... how should I put it... voluptuous? She sat in to it and went to slam the door, straight into the rocks which were now blocking the door thanks to the increased load. Big Cry

That 60 plate Defender has to have been bought near me, I can think of three LR dealers that fall within the Edinburgh prefixes, long way from Edinburgh whoever it was! Mark S

Geneva airport does appear to be a bit of a mecca for ‘Fender spotting if you’re that sad. Some of these include spare-wheel-mounted ski-racks, of varying degrees of engineering success. I usually arrive and depart by train though, so avoid the parking madness. I wonder how easy it would be to get hold of diplomatic plates? Laughing

And yes it does appear to be very safe, I constantly have to remind Swiss relatives not to leave valuables + coats on display in the car when they visit the UK. And to not leave windows wide open when they leave the house. And that British houses aren’t warm all the time, only when the heating’s on…

Back on topic – why on earth in these days of online shopping would you put yourself through having to venture near a multi-storey car park? (lights blue touch paper, retreats to safe distance!) Real trucks don't have spark plugs
