before you tell me this can't happen I know (well I think I know)....
was slowly reversing into a parking space earlier and as I applied the brakes a little before coming to a stand still it felt the pads moved / slipped an inch in the calipers ? weird? any ideas. ps still suffering with what I'd always thought was an itermittent issue with the engine but having had the input shaft to the transfer box replaced recently I'm convinced the 'rattle' noise is indeed from the transmission?..anyway this is another story. any thoughts on the brakes? thanks. |

Catherham,
it's normal or at least it can happen, the inch you describe will only be like a couple of mm for the pads to move in the caliper.(but you will move an inch) Pads have sit free in the calipers and this causes them also to move forward/backwards as you notice. I have it also when braking hard in reverse and then first time braking driving forward... "Clack!" Nothing to worry, let some dirt build up on the calipers and it will go away |

aha.
thank you. hadn't really noticed it before? that's something else I can tick off my 'worry' list. |

Mine did likewise. I took it back to the dealer who changed the pads for me. They said it happens and not to worry.
